[/tab] [tab]11-Day tour Jordan to Israel

Day 1, Flight to Amman: Welcome to Jordan! You will be met by our representative to assist you through the transition to Jordan. Then we will drive you to the great city of Amman, Jordan’s capital, where you will enjoy dinner and stay overnight.

Day 2, Amman – Jerash – Umm Qais – Ajloun – Amman: Today, you will visit Jerash, the Pompeii of the East. You will enter Jerash through the monumental South Gate and find yourself wandering around in a Roman city. You will walk in the Oval Plaza surrounded by colonnades and visit the Roman theatre and Byzantine churches with mosaic-covered floors. Enjoy a stroll along Cardo, the main road of Jerash, and pass by the Nymphaeum. Jerash has been covered by sand for centuries, the main reason why it is still so well-preserved. Experience the marvelous acoustics of the theatre, the stage of the Jerash music festival which takes place every year. See for yourself how the Romans built the earthquake-proof columns of the colonnaded streets. Next you will visit Umm Qais, which was built mainly out of black basalt. Here you can enjoy the impressive view over Lake Tiberius and the Golan Heights. At the guesthouse we will serve you a traditional mezze lunch. On the way back to Amman, you will visit the Islamic military castle of Ajloun. The castle was used by the Islamic armies of Saladin to protect the region against the crusaders. After dinner in the hotel, you will have plenty of time to enjoy the nightlife in Amman.

Day 3, Amman – Madaba – Mount Nebo – Kerak – Petra: You will depart early for Madaba, the city of mosaics, where you will visit the famous mosaic map of Jerusalem and the Holy Land housed in the contemporary Greek Orthodox Church of Saint George and comprised of over two million pieces of colored stone. Your next stop will be Mount Nebo where, like Moses, you will be able to look over the Holy Land and the Dead Sea. The West Bank city of Jericho can usually be seen from the summit as well as Jerusalem on a very clear day. Your journey will continue along the King Highway. On the way you will pass through Wadi Mujib, the grand canyon of Jordan and then stop in Karak for lunch. Here, in the afternoon, you will visit the huge castle where Saladin and Richard Lionheart fought during the crusades. While enjoying the beautiful landscapes, the journey continues along the King Highway to Petra, your final destination for today.

Day 4, Petra: In the morning, a local guide will escort you into Petra and show you the highlights of the Nabatean city. You will enter the city through the Siq and be rewarded with the most astonishing and dramatic monument in Jordan: the Treasury. You will also visit the theater, the tombs and facades, and the colonnaded street. In the afternoon you are free to wander around in Petra and explore the area for yourself. You may climb the stairs to the Monastery and admire the splendid view. In the evening we will serve you dinner by a campfire in Little Petra.

Day 5, Petra – Wadi Rum – Amman: In the morning, you will be transferred to Wadi Rum. You will pass the famous “seven pillars of wisdom,” described by Lawrence of Arabia and explore Wadi Rum by jeep escorted by a Bedouin guide. You will see the house where Lawrence of Arabia lived and the inscriptions made by the Thamudic and Nabatean people centuries ago. You may even climb one of the natural rock bridges. After lunch at the visitor center, you will be transferred to Amman. In the afternoon we will offer you a guided city tour by bus. You will visit the Amman citadel, the Roman theater and the Suq, a typical Middle Eastern market where one can find almost anything. Dinner and overnight in Amman.

Day 6, Amman – Jerusalem: In the morning, you will be transferred to Alenby Bridge Jerusalem where you will be met and assisted by Israeli representatives. Drive to Mt. Scopus for a panoramic view of Jerusalem then on to the Garden of Gethsemane and Church of the Agony. Drive to Mt. Zion for a visit to the tomb of King David, the Room of the Last Supper and the Dormition Abbey. Sightseeing in the new city includes the Israel Museum Shrine of the Book with the famous Dead Sea scrolls, the new Supreme Court building, Mt. Herzl and Yad Vashem (the memorial to the six million Jews who were killed in the Holocaust). Then visit the model of the Herodian city of Jerusalem dating back to the time of the Second Temple. In the afternoon visit the Hadassah medical center in the synagogue with Marc Chagall stained glass windows, and finally Ein Karem (the birth place of John the Baptist). Return to the hotel.

Day 7, Jerusalem – Bethlehem: Walk through one of the Gates to the walled Old City: the renewed Jewish Quarter, the Western Wall, the Temple area, the colorful bazaars, Via Dolorosa, and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Continue to Bethlehem to visit Rachel  Tomb and the Church of the Nativity and return to Jerusalem for overnight.

Day 8, Jericho – Tiberius – Galilee: Leave Jerusalem, driving via Bethany to Jericho, the oldest city in the world. Visit the excavations and then continue northward via the Jordan Valley and the new settlements to Beit Shean. After a short visit, proceed to Tiberius, the old center of Jewish learning. Drive along the shores of the Sea of Galilee to Capernaum to visit the ruins of the ancient synagogue. Continue to a Kibbutz hotel for overnight.

Day 9, Galilee – Golan Heights – Nazareth: Drive to the Golan Heights. Visit the former Syrian fortifications, Birkat Ram, the Druze villages, and Banias, source of the Jordan River. Proceed via Kiryat Shmone and the Hula Valley to Safed, city of the Kabala, to visit synagogues and the artists colony and then to Nazareth to visit the Christian Holy Sites. Return to the Kibbutz hotel for overnight.

Day 10, Nazatherth – Amman: Transfer from Nazareth leave to Alenby bridge. Visit the baptism site (Bethany) and in the evening return to Amman for dinner and overnight.

Day 11, Amman: Transfer to the airport for departure.[/tab] [tab]
