Return via the northern Jordan River / Sheikh Hussein Crossing.
If returning to Amman via Jordan River Crossing Sheikh Hussein instead of Allenby/ King Hussein Bridge add $200. Note the exit tax at this border is NIS 103 pp (approximately $32). You also need to pay for a Jordan visa at this border which is JOD 20 pp (approx $30).
VIP Crossing Service at the border
For the short tours, we recommend clients consider using the VIP service. It is a service run by the border staff at the Allenby Crossing. It costs approximately $110 per person, per journey. They provide private transportation across the 3Km ‘no man’s land’ between the Jordanian and Israeli terminals. It also means you jump all the lines at immigration and passport control. It means you normally get through the border in 1 hour. Without this service you have to line up, and also wait for the shared shuttle bus. On good days it can be 1-2 hour as well, but can sometimes take longer, depending upon the day and how busy it is. Please note, the VIP service doesn’t mean you get less security checks, and you may still have to wait if the authorities want to ask you any questions.
It’s up to you whether you would like to add this service? It will give you more touring time in Jerusalem. If you would like to, you please let us know. The fee for this service is paid directly to the VIP office at the border.
Tours on Friday & Saturday – Early Border Closing on Weekend
Please be aware that the border closes early on a Friday and Saturday (around 1pm or earlier), so we recommend not finishing a tour on these days. It is possible to finish a tour on these days if you return via the northern Jordan River / Sheikh Hussein crossing point, which closes slightly later on the weekend, but this adds a lot of travelling time, and will increase the cost. You would need to leave Jerusalem around 4pm, and it would add $200 minimum to the total trip cost.
Pick Up Times
The border opens at 8:00am (Israeli time), so we recommend pick ups to get to the border for this time. Normally from Amman we suggest a 7:00am pick up, and 7:30am from the Dead Sea. Arriving at the border for when it opens allows you to catch the first shuttle bus between the Jordanian and Israeli terminals. The first bus leaves 30 minutes after the border opens. After that the departure times are sporadic, and can lead to an hour wait or more. Unless your itinerary dictates otherwise, we recommend getting to the border for when it opens.
Payment
Payment is via our paypal account, which can be paid via a credit, debit card or another paypal account, or alternatively, you can pay directly by credit card over the phone or by email. When you confirm your booking details, please let us know how you would like to pay, we will send an invoice to you. You booking will be confirmed on receipt of payment.
Luggage
We recommend travelling with carry on hand luggage only to save time at the border. Keep your luggage with you and have it checked at the personal security check.
Early Closure of Bridge
Occassionally the Israelis close Allenby Bridge early. This only occurs in special circumstances and is unannounced; it happens around a couple of times a year. It is possible if this happens, to travel via Jordan Valley Crossing which is 90 minutes north of Allenby/ King Hussein Bridge.
