Day 1: Amman
Our representative will meet you at Queen Alia Airport, assist you in the visa process and take you to your hotel in the centre of Amman.
Day 2: Madaba – Karak – Petra
After breakfast, we head to Madaba, the city of mosaics, to see the oldest known mosaic map of the Holy Land. We then go to view the Jordan Valley from the famous Mt Nebo, from where Moses looked over to the Promised Land, before heading down to the lowest point on Earth, the Dead Sea, for a swim in the extraordinarily buoyant water and lunch at Amman Beach. In the afternoon, we continue down to one of the new seven wonders of the world, the rose-red city of Petra, where we stay in a hotel overnight.
Day 3: Petra
You will have the whole day to explore the unrivaled monuments of Petra: the Siq, the Treasury, the Royal Tombs, the Theatre, the Great Temple, Qasr al Bint, the High Place of Sacrifice, the Monastery… At the end of the day we walk to a campsite inside Petra.
Day 4: Wadi Sabra – Wadi Abu Arouk
From our campsite, we walk through Wadi Sabra accompanied by camels who will carry our luggage to see Petra’s second theatre. From Wadi Sabra, we walk through the geologically interesting Wadi Abu Arouk. Tonight we camp in Elseaf.
Overnight camping in Al Mrebeid.
Day 5: Wadi Imshaza – Wadi Quseib
With a Bedouin guide, you will hike through canyons and wadis of amazing different colors and shades: Wadi Howar, Wadi Allassif and Wadi Mishaza, to some springs flowing through small pools between the magmatic rocks that form this part of the canyon. A dirt road crosses here, leading from the asphalt road to a Bedouin cemetery close by. This road is sometimes not negotiable and plans may therefore change. We camp for the night in Wadi Quseib.
Day 6: Wadi Arrakiya
We will go by camel up Wadi Arrakiya to explore an area of infinite colors and shapes, high white dunes and overarching mountains.
Day 7: Aqaba – Wadi Rum
In the morning we go to to Aqaba to relax and swim in the Red Sea before transferring at midday to Wadi Rum, a valley cut into the sandstone and granite, home to various peoples from prehistoric times and imposing wind-carved towers of stone.
Day 8: Wadi Rum
After breakfast, we take a jeep to Mount Burda and hike and scramble over pale yellow and pink sandstone slabs to the top, from where you will enjoy awe-inspiring views across the whole region. We descend back to the desert, choose a shaded spot, collect some dry wood to cook lunch and have some Bedouin tea. After a little rest, we continue our hike through thedesert sands to Jebel Um Fruth.
Day 9: Amman airport
We will take you to the airport in time to catch your flight home.
