As the capital of Jordan and one of the world’s oldest cities, Amman is a fascinating blend of history and modernity. Its roots stretch back to the Bronze Age, yet it has evolved into a thriving metropolis while preserving its traditions and unique charm. Hospitality and generosity are deeply ingrained in its culture, making it a warm and welcoming city.

After breakfast at 7:30 am, the group will depart Amman for a 2.5-hour drive to the trek’s starting point. Use this time to get acquainted with fellow travelers or rest before beginning the adventure.

The trek kicks off in the Dana Biosphere Reserve, a region with an incredible variety of landscapes and ecosystems, home to diverse plants, birds, and wildlife. The route starts with a trail overlooking Dana Valley before descending into the serene al Khashasha Valley, where a wilderness campsite awaits.

Refreshed from a good night’s rest, the group will set out early toward Furon. The hike is both challenging and rewarding, beginning with a steep ascent through the mountains. As the trail progresses, breathtaking views of the Sharah Mountains and Wadi Araba Desert emerge. The day concludes at a campsite in Al Furon, where you can enjoy tea and take in the scenery while waiting for a well-deserved dinner.

This day’s journey passes through some of Jordan's wildest terrain, skirting the Sharah Mountains via trails once used by Bedouin shepherds. The rugged, black peaks and deep canyons create a dramatic backdrop. As the trail ascends, you’ll be rewarded with panoramic views of the desert. Approaching the campsite, the landscape softens with unique mushroom-shaped rock formations.

  • Descent: 920 m

As you near Little Petra, signs of human habitation become evident, with Bedouin camps and agricultural plots dotting the landscape. Along the way, you’ll encounter Nabataean ruins, including ancient wine presses, aqueducts, and water systems. The trail leads through sandstone canyons, descending into the remarkable Siq al-Barid (Cold Canyon), believed to be a ‘suburb’ of Petra used by traders on the Silk Road. After exploring, you’ll head to a nearby Bedouin camp for the night and enjoy a hot shower.

On the final trekking day, you’ll approach Petra through a less crowded route. The trail meanders down Wadi Ghurab, following an ancient Nabataean path along a rock terrace with spectacular views. After reaching the hidden plateau, the Monastery comes into view. From there, descend to Petra’s main site, passing tombs, temples, and the famed Treasury. The trek concludes with a walk through the Siq, a narrow canyon leading to your hotel.

The journey continues to Wadi Rum for a desert adventure. With your Bedouin hosts, explore the area on a 4×4 jeep safari, discovering rock inscriptions, climbing sand dunes, and marveling at the majestic desert scenery. As the day ends, enjoy a spectacular sunset before dining under the stars in a traditional Bedouin camp.

The tour wraps up with a visit to the Dead Sea, the lowest point on earth. Enjoy floating in the salty waters, trying the renowned Dead Sea mud, or indulging in spa treatments. By late afternoon, the group will return to Amman, concluding the adventure.
