Hiking from Dana to Petra

Morning:
Start early from Dana Village (1,200 meters above sea level), descending through the Dana Biosphere Reserve. The trail begins with breathtaking views of the Wadi Dana gorge. You'll traverse rugged terrain filled with juniper, acacia trees, and unique wildlife like ibex or sand foxes.

Midday:
Take a break under the shade of acacia trees or near a dry riverbed. Enjoy a packed lunch while appreciating the serenity of the reserve.

Afternoon:
Continue the gradual descent toward Wadi Feynan, a desert landscape dotted with ancient copper mines. Arrive at the Feynan Eco-Lodge for the night. Enjoy a candle-lit dinner and the peaceful desert ambiance

Morning:
Begin the day early to avoid the midday heat. The trail takes you through rocky desert terrain, crossing dry riverbeds and sandstone cliffs. Keep an eye out for local Bedouin camps, where you might be invited for tea.

Midday:
Rest and recharge during a lunch stop in the shade of a canyon. Use this time to hydrate and enjoy the tranquil surroundings.

Afternoon:
The route becomes more challenging as you ascend toward Ras al-Feid. The climb rewards you with incredible panoramic views of jagged mountains and deep valleys. Set up camp for the night under the stars.

Morning:
Begin the final leg of your trek with a challenging hike through rugged terrain. You'll cross narrow gorges, climb steep paths, and pass through remote wilderness.

Midday:
Pause for lunch near an ancient Nabataean water cistern or carved steps, a hint of Petra's historical wonders to come.

Afternoon:
Arrive at Little Petra (Siq al-Barid), a smaller but enchanting precursor to Petra. Explore carved facades and painted interiors before continuing toward the main Petra archaeological site. If time allows, walk through the Siq to reach the iconic Treasury.

Evening:
End your trek in Petra, reflecting on the diverse landscapes and history you’ve experienced. Spend the night in a hotel in Wadi Musa to relax and explore Petra further the next day.
