Itinerary
We will start from Dana Village, with a short visit to Dana Spring, and head off past some old olive trees down into Wadi Dana. After an easy 3 hours, we will have a tea break under a 2000-year-old tree before continuing along a Bedouin trail to Qussaib Spring. Here you can freshen up. After a couple more hours, we will stop near Atta’the Spring for lunch and a cup of Bedouin tea. In the afternoon, we will reach the end of the great valley of Dana Natural Reserve, ending at Edge, a beautiful hotel made from mud. From here we will cross the beginning of the Wadi Araba desert, where you will stay in abedouin camp and you will have a traditional Bedouin dinner, and the guide will tell you the story of the Bedouin tribe and some Bedouin history.
After breakfast, and farewelling the Bedouin family, we will hike down to the ancient copper mines in Wadi Feynan, then continue to Wadi Gweir. Here the jeeps will meet us, and we will drive by jeep through the canyon, which has 20–30 cm of water. When the water deepens, we will leave the jeeps and canoeing for 2 hours to the end of the canyon, where we will make camp near an oasis of palm trees and waterfalls.
After breakfast, we canoe back to our jeeps and drive through the Wadi Araba desert to Wadi Namala, from where we will hike up to the Petra mountains 1421m above sea level. We will have a break at Shqeiret Mesai’ed to admire the view of Wadi Araba and Negev deserts and the surrounding mountains. In the evening we transfer by jeeps to a hotel in Petra, where the tour ends.
